Adoption Policies

So you found a dog you like and want to take home, below are the four easy steps to follow to adopt one of our dogs:

one

Give us a call or email to find out more information, every dog has a little quirk and you might like to know what funny thing the dog you're interested in does. We will tell you more about him/her and send you more pictures.

two

Fill out an application. We have tried to make it easier for people who are interested in our dogs by creating an online application. It is easy to do and we will be able to approve the adoption quicker.

three

Schedule a time to meet the dog. You may like him from his description and picture but maybe in person he just doesn't quite fit what you were looking for. Also sometimes the dog may not like you. It is easier to find out if you will both get along if you meet in person. What a better way for him to show you his special trick!

four

After we have approved your application and you have met the dog it is time to take him home. We can make arrangements for transporting the dog to you; however we are unable to travel very long distances. If you are adopting out-of-state you must make your own arrangements for transportation.

Finally, as a Special Bonus and because of our concern for the dog we will phone or email you to check on the welfare of the dog and your family within the first month. We are always here for the dog. If you have any question, concerns or special needs please let us know. We are willing to help in whatever way we can.

  • All potential adopters must fill out an adoption application.
  • Homeowners must be aware of breed discrimination within home owner insurance policies and check with their insurance company to be certain the breed they are adopting will not jeopardize their coverage.
  • All renters must provide written permission from landlord.
  • We welcome out-of-state adopters however you must provide your own transportation for the dog. We do not ship dogs.
  • We ask that all dogs be housed inside at night. Dogs are pack animals and thrive on being inside the home because of this need many dogs develop behavioral problems if left outside too long such as: barking, whining, and escaping. Keeping the dog inside keeps the neighbors happy!

  • All adopters must be financial able to provide basic care of dog; including food, shelter and medical treatment.
  • All adopters must sign a written adoption agreement and provide donation adoption fee.
  • We strongly urge obedience training with a formal trainer on all adopted dogs. We will be happy to recommend a trainer for you.
  • We reserve the right to refuse an adoption of dog for any reason.
